Ted Clarence Boyle (born 1908) was a Madison, Wisconsin, alderman who resigned in December 1942 while serving as a sergeant at Camp Ritchie (Class 3).
Biography[edit | edit source]
Ted Clarence Boyle was born in 1908. He was elected alderman of Madison, Wisconsin’s 2nd ward in 1940 and re-elected in 1942 for a term to expire in 1944. After entering the Army he trained as a sergeant at Camp Ritchie, Maryland (Class 3).
While home on Christmas furlough he attended a common-council meeting on 28 December 1942 and resigned his seat so the ward would have full-time representation, telling colleagues he would be kept away from Madison on Army duty. The Capital Times reported the resignation the next day. His brother William H. Boyle also served on the council (17th ward).
