Florence Lewis (née Cohen, c. 1920–18 March 2000) was a Women's Army Corps (WAC) member who served in the military intelligence division at Camp Ritchie, Maryland.

Biography

Florence (Cohen) Lewis was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and later lived for many years in Worcester, Massachusetts. She earned a combined bachelor of arts and law degree in 1941 from Calvin Coolidge College and Portia Law School in Boston. After working as a lawyer for about a year and a half, she joined the Women's Army Corps in 1943 and served in the military intelligence division at Camp Ritchie, Maryland.

After the war she was active in Beth Israel Synagogue in Worcester, serving on its board of directors. She was president of the New England Region of the Women's League for Conservative Judaism, the first woman national vice president of the United Synagogue of America, and the first president of the Solomon Schechter Day School in Worcester. She moved to Jerusalem in 1998 and died there on 18 March 2000.
