John H. Brunswick (1911–2005) was a United States Army Private First Class who trained at Camp Ritchie, Maryland, in Class 16. Born Hans Braunschweig in Bocholt; IPW officer who interpreted at the surrender of German Army Group G.

Biography

John Brunswick was born Hans Braunschweig in Bocholt, Germany. He trained as an IPW at Camp Ritchie and served much of the war with a team attached to the Free French 2nd Armored Division under XV Corps, Third Army. In May 1945 he was the official interpreter when Gen. von Foertsch signed the surrender of German Army Group G before Gen. Jacob L. Devers. After the war he manufactured plastic household goods.
