Roy A. Greenfield (7 May 1915 – 15 August 1994) was a Ritchie Boy (from United States; Catholic) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 16.

Biography

Roy Alonzo Greenfield was a Ritchie Boy. He was one of the few African American's who were Ritchie Boys. Roy was born May 7, 1915 in Washington DC. Roy attended Howard University, earning a BS Liberal Arts, MA, PhD Higher Education Administration. He also attended New York University earning a PhD in Psychology. He was a career government official. He was the first black hospital administrator for Gent Omar Bradley, Veterans Administrator, Washington DC. He was also the first black interpreter of French and Spanish WWII under General Eisenhower; State College for Colored Students Dover State Delaware. Prof of Foreign Languages; Vet Adm NYRO, psychologist/psychometrist; US Federal Trade Communications, first black chum dir consumer educ NY regional office. For his organizational memberships, which there were many, among them he was a member of the NAACP, NY Academy of Science, National Society for the Advancement of Ethical Culture, consultant to member Diplomatic Corps connected with foreign embassies, Washington DC; French and Spanish interpreter at Washington National Airport for Delta. Eastern, Piedmont, Pan Am Airlines and was a USO volunteer for 5 years. His honors and awards, among them, he was the first Black member admitted to NY Academy of Science in 1939. He was the only bona fide US Black federal fur expert, textile expert and wool expert in USA trained by US federal government. His military service included graduating from Camp Ritchie, as a interpreter of French. Roy Alonzo Greenfield passed away August 15, 1994.
