Raymond P. Pach (1914–2008) was a Ritchie Boy (from United States; Protestant) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 15.
Biography
Raymond Peter Pach was a Ritchie Boy. Raymond was born in New York City. He graduated from Chateau Bures, a private school for boys in Paris, France; and Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine. His post graduate studies were at the Conservatory of Music in Paris, France and San Francisco, Calif.; Manhattan School of Music, New York City; UNC, Chapel Hill, N.C.; Military Intelligence School, Md.; and Marine Corp Extension School, Quantico, Va. He served in the Army (WWII) in the Intelligence Division; retired as Major in the Marine Corps., owned a foreign car dealership in Italy, was a commercial builder, North Carolina, and sang Basso in various operas in the Italy and the USA. He volunteered locally with Seaman's and SCORE in Hampton for many years. Raymond passed away on Oct. 2, 2008 at the age of 93. A brief summary of his military service is below. Entered Service: 1943. Branch of Service: Army, 101st Combat Engineer. Trained: at Camp Ritchie, Maryland. Engaged in: France, Belgium, Germany. Awarded: European Theatre Ribbon W/5 Battle Stars, German Occupational Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal. Discharged: Etampes, France, October 1945. Rank: Technician Third Grade. Was in Army of Occupation in Germany, 1945. Later Occupation: First Lieutenant in Marine Corps Reserve, later promoted, and retired as a Major.
