Phillip A. Toomey (born 1907) was a Ritchie Boy who trained at Camp Ritchie.

Biography

. Toomey was born Apr 30, 1907, in Springfield, Massachusetts. Philip Toomey passed away on Jul 10, 1991. The following document came from the "Headquarters Southern Line of Communications, European Theater of Operations, United States Army, APO 89" History of G-2 Section, Headquarters, Southern Line of Communications November 20, 1944 to January 15, 1945 Philip A. He enlisted on June 23, 1942, and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in March 1943. Prior to his commission he received training in the Military Intelligence Training Course at Camp Ritchie, took part in the landing operations in French Morocco as a part of a French Interrogation team attached to the Western Task Force, and later served as interpreter and translator in the G-2 Section of the 2d Armored Division. He came to the Section in September 1943, when it was operating in Headquarters NATOUSA, from Joint Rearmament Committee, AFHQ. He was the representative of the G-2 Section in the Headquarters, Communications Zone, Advance, where his linguistic ability, which includes fluency in French, Spanish and German, and a working knowledge of Italian, Rumanian and Russian, together with his other qualifications, proved of great value to the headquarters. He is presently serving as the Intelligence Officer of the Section.
