John H. W. Weitz (1923–2002) was a Ritchie Boy (from Germany; Jewish) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 13.
Biography
John H. W. Weitz (born Hans Werner Weitz; 25 May 1923 – 3 October 2002) was born in Berlin, Germany. He emigrated to the United States and briefly worked for the Voice of America before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1943. He trained at Camp Ritchie in class 13 and later served as an OSS intelligence officer; in 1944 he took part in a mission connected to support for the plot against Hitler associated with Claus von Stauffenberg. After the war he worked for his father's firm, the Weitz Corporation, then built his own menswear business known for licensing and for advertising that featured his own image. He died on 3 October 2002.
