This page is the site-wide inbox for document OCR: upload a scan (image or PDF), review the extracted text and proposed facts, then apply only what you confirm to one or more soldier profiles.
How it works
- Log in (same as photo uploads).
- Upload a document below. OCR runs on the server; nothing is written to a soldier page yet.
- Review the OCR text and each proposed fact (ASN, class, dates, rank, biography lines). Assign a soldier page title when the upload is not from a profile.
- Save draft keeps your choices. Discard drops the job. Apply selected writes only checked facts (requires the
ocr-reviewergroup or an administrator).
You can also start from a soldier page (Gallery → Contribute files → OCR a document); that path pre-selects that profile as the target.
Privacy
- Do not upload Social Security numbers or private contact details for living people.
- Staging files are kept for review and are not published until Apply (when the file may be added to the soldier Gallery).

For reviewers
Administrators can grant the ocr-reviewer group so trusted editors can Apply. Uploads from other logged-in users remain in the queue until a reviewer applies or discards them.
