• 10/17/1942 Graduated Class 2 (PI) and released from Company B (S. O. 98).

• Assigned to the 505th PIR of the 82nd Airborne Division.
• While serving as leader of the 3rd Platoon of Company A, Coxon and two scouts crawled along a hedgerow and was hit by enemy machine gun fire.
