Timeline

- Graduated as IPW-Ge (also class 9 OB).
- Later, Steinberg, then a Captain, was detailed to Reims where on May 7th 1945, he was present when General Alfred Jodl signed the unconditional surrender document. Immediately after the official surrender, Steinberg was ordered to Flensburg where the German government, now led by Admiral Doenitz, had headquarters on the liner “The Patria” and where on....
