John R. Wahl (1913–1993) was a United States Army Technical Sergeant who trained at Camp Ritchie, Maryland, in Class 22. John enlisted at New Orleans, Louisiana.

The timeline research also records From August 1945 to March 1946, John Wahl may have served as commandant of the Hersbruck Internment Camp (a satellite of Flossenburg). In a Landrat report dated 21 June 1946, it was stated that the Military Government has been directed successively by Major Frank M. Wahl’s name was also not found in the Personnel Rosters of 1946 for Detachment H 265, Third Military Government Regiment, HQ Company C (Box 1304). Wahl was later stationed at Nuremberg and served as part of War Crimes Investigating Team No 6832 as a civilian Interrogator-Examiner. [Note: Wahl wrote in one of his letters that he is referenced in the April 16, 1945 overseas edition of Newsweek. More information on the family is available in the Leo Baeck Institute (Center for Jewish History) in the Marion and Max Wahl Collection and two other LBI collections. The main source of information for the Wahl family records is the Marion and Max Wahl Collection at the Center for Jewish History (Leo Baeck Institute). Mother Bertha was sent from Theresienstadt to Auschwitz where she died in October 1944.

Timeline
- On or about 11/20/44, Wahl was transported to Camp Kilmer, NJ for shipment overseas as part of a group of 25 German IPW teams. IPW Team 435 (temporary designation) consisted of Sturm, Saborskey, Wahl, S/Sgt Paul W. Freedman, T/3 Leo Kingston and T/5 Peter F. Muller.
- Wahl was later stationed at Nuremberg and served as part of War Crimes Investigating Team No 6832 as a civilian Interrogator-Examiner. In July 1946, he prepared a War Crime Report certifying as to the accuracy of a translation of testimony from two Czech women who observed crimes committed in 1944 in Auschwitz.
