Frederick F. Kempner (1921 – 7 January 2013), known as Fritz Kempner, was a Camp Ritchie Class 18 interrogator who later taught at William Penn Charter School and lived in retirement in Maine.

Biography edit

Frederick F. “Fritz” Kempner was born in 1921 (Netherlands nativity on the roster) and entered the U.S. Army from New York City. He trained at Camp Ritchie with Class 18 and served with IPW teams 81 and 151.

After the war he became a long-serving faculty member at William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia, teaching into the mid-1980s (retired from Penn Charter in 1986). He did volunteer work with the American Friends Service Committee, took student groups abroad, and taught briefly in England and Germany. In retirement he and his wife Natalie lived in Woolwich, Maine; in 2004 they hiked the Camino de Santiago. He died on 7 January 2013 at age 91.
