William Nimmo Brown (born 1913) was a United States Army Sergeant who trained at Camp Ritchie, Maryland, in Class 3. William enlisted at Baltimore, Maryland.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In 1934, William graduated DePaul University (AB, Commerce) [acc to I-24]. From 1939 to 1942 he worked as a hotel executive at Waldorf-Astoria (NYC) and Ambassador (DC). He moved to Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn for transshipment to ETO as part.

  • 4 July 1942 — Enlisted in Baltimore as Pvt (ASN: 13073729).
  • 23 December 1942 — Graduated Class 3 as S/Sgt.
  • December 1943 — Completed approx. 3-mo. course at OCS at Shrivenham. Commissioned as 2nd Lt. (ASN: 02041083).
  • Assigned to “Detachment A” along with 12 other servicemen from Class 3L all of whom (with one exception) were included in Assignment I-24.
  • Moved to Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn for transshipment to ETO as part.
  • of group of 55 enlisted men. (On same Special Order were some members of Camp Ritchie’s Composite Service Unit).
