John Hewitt Mitchell (born 3 July 1914) was a Ritchie Boy (from United States; Protestant) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 14.
Biography edit
John Hewitt Mitchell was born on 3 July 1914 in New Haven, Connecticut. He married Frances E. Farnham on 18 June 1938, earned a Ph.D. in history from Yale in 1941, and taught at Yale, Hartford Junior College, and Wellesley College.
Mitchell entered the Army as a private in summer 1943. After time at Camp Lee, Virginia, he trained at Camp Ritchie (Class 14) and was subsequently stationed in England. He died on 25 January 1998.
