Herman G. Kleikamp (23 December 1906 – 16 February 1976) was a German-born Ritchie Boy (Class 22) who led an MI team in Europe and later served as a judge advocate.

Biography

Herman G. Kleikamp was born on 23 December 1906. Inducted into the Army in March 1942, he attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in Armor on 30 April 1943. He commanded an armored company and taught tank gunnery at Fort Knox before completing a military-intelligence course at Camp Ritchie (Class 22).

In November 1944 he went to Europe as an MI officer in charge of a team. In February 1945 he joined the 65th Infantry Division and, after its inactivation, served with the 9th Infantry Division as detachment commander of an MI detachment, screening displaced persons until August 1947.

Back in the United States he completed a CIC course at Camp Holabird and in 1949 transferred to the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. By the mid-1950s he was Post Judge Advocate at the Presidio of San Francisco after service with V Corps in Frankfurt. He died on 16 February 1976.
