He enlisted in February 1943, took additional basic training with the 275th Engineering Battalion in April 1943, and graduated from Camp Ritchie Class 8 on 16 July 1943 (certificate 2584). Later assignments included travel-duty recruiting at ASTP campuses (7 December 1943). He rose to technical sergeant. | |||
