He went to school in Latvia and studied mechanical engineering at the University of Latvia. After serving in the Latvian Army, he emigrated to the United States. He enlisted in the US Army in 1943 and did his basic training at Camp Claiborne, LA. In February 1944, he transferred to Camp Ritchie because of his language skills of German, Russian, and Latvian. He trained in the 16th Class (the same as my Father) and graduated as a German Interrogator. In May 1944 he was released from Camp Ritchie with the rank of Master Sergeant and as a member of IPW Team 82 attached to the Third Army. Other Members of IPW Team 82 were: Lt. Ruhrold (1920- ?
