Eugene H. Manley (1917 – 25 April 1979) was a Ritchie Boy (from United States; Protestant) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 14.

Biography

Eugene Halley Manley was a Ritchie Boy. He was born in Joplin, Missouri, on March 19, 1917. He graduated from the College of Civil Engineering, University of Arkansas, in 1939. He served for almost five years in the United States Army. He spent two years with the United States Army Engineers at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Fort Belvoir, Virginia. In 1943 he was transferred to the Military Intelligence Division, War Department General Staff, and was stationed at Camp Ritchie, Maryland. On April 10, 1943, he was graduated from the Command and General Staff School at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and served overseas in the European Theater of Operations and the Pacific and Southwest Pacific Theaters of Operations. He gained successive promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Some further research indicates that Eugene continued to serve well into his life, having been in WWII, Korea and Vietnam, attaining the rank of Colonel. Eugene passed away April 25, 1979 and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Photo is from the Fifth Armored Division Yearbook, Camp Chaffee, Arkansas, 1952.
