Frederick studied photography at New York Photo Institute | Frederick W. Perutz was born on 22 May 1919 in Austria. After reaching the United States he studied photography at the New York Photo Institute and worked as a clerk examining foreign shipping documents. | ||
He enlisted in February 1943, took additional basic training with the 275th Engineering Battalion in April 1943, and graduated from Camp Ritchie Class 8 on 16 July 1943 (certificate 2584). Later assignments included travel-duty recruiting at ASTP campuses (7 December 1943). He rose to technical sergeant. | |||
